For your application packet to be considered complete, the Graduate Admissions Office will need the following items:

Please write your Application ID Number on all documents and envelopes submitted to the Graduate College. Materials submitted without your Application ID Number will delay the processing of your application.

Application Fee

Applications will not be processed until the fee is received:

  • U.S Citizen: $70  (effective May 1, 2009)

  • Non-U.S. Citizen: $90 (effective May 1, 2009)
  • In addition to the normal application fee, a $50 non-refundable late processing fee will be charged for ALL applications submitted on or after the dates indicated below:
    • Credit card (VISA or MasterCard)
    • U.S. check or U.S. money order, made payable to Arizona State University
    • Cash, only if paying in person. Please do not mail cash.

    Note: Once the late processing fee period begins, applications will not be processed until all fees have been paid. Both the application fee and the late processing fee are non-refundable.

    Note for Full-time ASU Employees: The employee will be responsible for any applicable late processing fees.

    Accepted forms of currency include:

    NOTE: Checks drawn on international banks must identify a corresponding U.S. bank on the check and have bank routing numbers imprinted across the bottom of the draft. International money orders cannot be accepted.



    Official Transcripts/Academic Credentials

    One set of official transcripts/mark sheets from every college and university from which a bachelor's or higher degree was earned must be submitted. You do not need to submit Arizona State University transcripts. If additional transcripts are required, the Graduate College will notify you.

    We prefer transcripts in sealed envelopes, stamped and verified by the issuing institutions.

    International students should review additional information available at graduate.asu.edu/admissions/international.html.

    Nondegree applicants do not need to send transcripts.



    Official Test Scores

    Have the official test scores required by the degree program sent to the Graduate Admissions Office by ETS.



    English Proficiency

    If you are from a country whose native language is not English, you must provide evidence of English proficiency as indicated by acceptable scores on the TOEFL or IELTS as follows:

    1. The minimum TOEFL requirement is 550 (PBT) or 80 (iBT).
    2. The minimum IELTS is an overall band score of 6.5 with no individual band below a 6.0.
    3. Individual academic units may have higher requirements. Please consult your department's website.
    Applicants who have met one of the following conditions at a regionally accredited college/university in the United States do not need to submit evidence of English proficiency:
    1. earned a bachelor's degree or higher
    2. completed a minimum of 12 semester hours of graduate level study with a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.00 or higher
    3. completed at least 90 undergraduate semester credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher
    4. completed the American English and Culture Program Advanced Level II and have the recommendation of the Director of the AECP

    TOEFL and IELTS scores are only valid if taken after the date shown above. Applications will not be processed without valid evidence of English proficiency.

    The TOEFL is administered by TOEFL/TSE Services, PO Box 6151, Princeton, NJ, 08541-6151, USA. Information is available on the internet at http://www.toefl.org/ or by email at toefl@ets.org. ASU's institutional code is 4007.

    The IELTS is administered by the University of Cambridge, ESOL Examinations, 1 Hills Road, Cambridge, CB1 2EU, United Kingdom. Information is available on the internet at http://www.ielts.org/. There is no institutional code for IELTS.

     



    Financial Guarantee

    If you are an international student, the Financial Guarantee form must be accompanied by the required bank statement.



    Federal Scholarship Verification

    If you will be attending ASU on a federal scholarship, please fax or mail a letter from the sponsor documenting your affiliation with this program to:

    USA Visa Requirement

    Non USA Citizens (residing in the USA) must provide proof of USA visa/immigration.

    The academic unit(s) to which you have applied may require additional application materials. We recommend that you communicate directly with the academic unit(s) to determine additional requirements.
