There is no universal definition of academic integrity. Cultures define cheating and plagiarism in different ways. As an ASU graduate student you are required to learn and enact the policies and practices that convey integrity at ASU and in your unit. For many students this will mean learning about new ways and new norms of expected behavior. Learn more.
Don’t get caught up in the blame game—faculty are not able to discuss every nuance of academic integrity in their syllabus or in class (nor would you want them to do so). Take the initiative and start the conversation with your faculty about questions you may have.
True or false? Only students who knowingly intend to cheat will be sanctioned. False! This section helps you to understand why intentions are hard to assess and why “unintended actions” or mistakes incur sanctions.
Allegations of academic dishonesty are reviewed at the College level. The process is outlined at Review by College/School Board.
Many students believe that faculty won’t enforce sanctions for violations of academic integrity. In this video, students discuss some of the consequences that may happen as a result of inappropriate behavior. Overview of possible sanctions.
