ASU Center and Institute Approval Process
Home >> ASU Center and Institute Approval Process

Welcome to the center/institute approval webpage! Here you will find resources and information for establishing new centers and institutes.

The approval process for new centers and institutes occurs once per academic year in a two step approval process:

Step 1 - Pre-planning proposal process

The Arizona Board of Regents requires that each university submit a list of proposed center/institutes to be potentially launched in the upcoming year. The ASU pre-proposal planning form is used to provide information about each center or institute that may be proposed in the upcoming year. Please note that these centers and institutes may be in the concept stage so the request is for preliminary information.

The deadline is August 6, 2007 to submit the pre-planning proposal form for 2007-08 to Sarah Lindquist in the Graduate College.

See the Pre-planning proposal form .

Step 2 - Full proposal process

Once the list of potential centers and institutes is reviewed by ASU and ABOR, a subsequent call for full proposals will follow (September, 2007).

The proposal and required signature page should be submitted after the call is distributed. The proposal lays out the purpose, justification, resource streams and expenditures for the proposed new center or institute.

The signature page along with the full proposal is due October 15, 2007.

See the Proposed center or institute proposal and required signature page.
