Recruiting Process for TA/RA Positions
Effective last August, the recruiting process for RA and TA positions
changed. The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action no
longer reviews TA/RA Announcements of Vacancy and no longer links job
announcements to the HR website. Hiring units now post RA/TA vacancies
in their department, on their website, and/or request that other
colleges or departments post the vacancies. There is no longer a
central location for TA/RA job openings in the university. We are
interested in knowing if the elimination of a central location for
TA/RA job postings has had an affect on your academic unit. Please send
comments to grad-financial@asu.edu.
2006-07 Block Grants
All 2006-07 block grant awards must be allocated and entered in gPortal
by no later than May 1, 2007. This includes summer awards. Any funds
not allocated by this date will revert to GC.
SAS Reminders
A student's entire committee must be present at the oral defense of a thesis or dissertation.
If a member will not be able to attend the defense, the student should
contact SAS for a copy of the Absent Committee Member Procedures and
obtain a substitute for the defense. Students may not process a
committee change once the oral defense has been scheduled with the
Graduate College.
Students who are
scheduling an oral defense of a thesis or dissertation should ensure
that they have an approved Program of Study on file with the GC,
comprehensive exam and/or foreign language exam results have been
recorded, and that they have been advanced to candidacy (doctoral
students only). Students will not be allowed to schedule
defenses if the committee on record is incorrect or if they are missing
any required exams, forms, candidacy, etc. Please note that all of
these items must be resolved prior to the 10 working day deadline to
schedule the defense or the student will need to reschedule the defense
to a later date.
