national graduate fellowships workshops: becoming a national fellowship applicant
Early each Fall semester, the Graduate College and the Office of National Scholarships Advisement in Barrett the Honors College sponsor workshops for students interested in applying for the Javits, National Science Foundation, Ford, and Harriett Jenkins (NASA) 3-year graduate fellowships. These workshops are designed for graduating seniors, as well as first- and second-year graduate students. Faculty mentors are also welcome to attend the workshops. A schedule of workshops will be posted prior to the start of each Fall semester. For information on strengthening national fellowship applications or to review successful proposals, contact Pat Saldivar at psaldivar@asu.edu or gradinfo@asu.edu or call (480) 727-7627.
fulbright fellowship
If you would like to spend the 2012-2013 academic year overseas studying, researching or teaching English, the Fulbright Fellowship might be just the program for you. The Fulbright is the nation’s flagship foreign exchange program for graduate students and those seniors who will have their bachelor’s degree by May 2012. Applicants must be US citizens with solid GPAs ( 3.9 or above in their graduate studies). To check out the scope of the program and eligibility considerations, take a look at the Fulbright website; choose the US Student program link).
ASU’s Lorraine W. Frank Office of National Scholarship Advisement is offering a series of Fulbright information sessions shortly after spring break; dates, times and locations are listed at http://barretthonors.asu.edu/academics/scholarships-and-fellowships/process/; Students can RSVP online from that site for one of the sessions (all are the same). At those sessions, students will be given an overview of the Fulbright Fellowship itself, get a sense of ASU’s campus process, and have a chance to ask questions.
In the meantime, please address any specific questions to the LWFONSA director, Dr. Janet Burke ( janet.burke@asu.edu.)
