Issuance of I-20/DS-2019 and Important Dates

 

The United States government has strict regulations on the issuance of I-20s and DS-2019 documents to international students who wish to attend an educational institution in the US. The dates for issuance of an I-20/DS-2019, attendance at mandatory orientations, latest date to report to the appropriate International Student office and the final day to be enrolled full time are listed below. Arizona State University does not have the latitude to make exceptions to these dates. Any non-compliance with these dates may preclude the student from registering for classes. International students not enrolled full time will have their SEVIS record terminated and become subject to detainment and deportation.

Fall 2009
February 2 First day to issue I-20/DS-2019 for Fall 2008 admits
June 29 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by standard air mail)
July 20 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by international express mail at department/student expense)
August 18 MANDATORY New International Student Orientation
August 21 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (international transfer students in US)
Transfer students are not eligible to register for classes until their SEVIS record
has been transferred to ASU

August 24 First Day of Classes and international student report deadline with ISO/ISS*
August 28 Final day to submit exception to full course of study documentsto ISO/ISS*
August 31 SEVIS record terminated for students not full time as of August 31-published late registration and drop/add date

 

 


Spring 2010
August 31 First day to issue I-20/DS-2019 for Spring 2010 admits
December 4 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by standard air mail)
December 18 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by international express mail at department/student expense)

January 12
MANDATORY New International Student Orientation
January 15
Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (international transfer students in US)
Transfer students are not eligible to register for classes until their SEVIS record
has been transferred to ASU

January 19
First Day of Classes and international student report deadline with ISO/ISS*
January 22
Final day to submit exception to full course of study documents to ISO/ISS*
January 25
SEVIS record terminated for students not full time as of the published late registration and drop/add date





*International Student Office (ISO) provides visa administration and support to students on the Tempe, Phoenix and Polytechnic campuses. International Student Services (ISS) provides visa administration and support to students on the West campus.
