Issuance of I-20/DS-2019 and Important Dates

 

The United States government has strict regulations on the issuance of I-20s and DS-2019 documents to international students who wish to attend an educational institution in the US. The dates for issuance of an I-20/DS-2019, attendance at mandatory orientations, latest date to report to the appropriate International Student office and the final day to be enrolled full time are listed below. Arizona State University does not have the latitude to make exceptions to these dates. Any non-compliance with these dates may preclude the student from registering for classes. International students not enrolled full time will have their SEVIS record terminated and become subject to detainment and deportation.

Spring 2008  
September 3 First day to issue I-20/DS-2019 for Spring admissions
December 3 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by standard air mail)
December 14 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by international express mail at department/student expense)
January 8 MANDATORY NEW International Student Orientation
January 8 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (international transfer students in US/can arrive by first day of classes and report to ISO/ISS*)
January 14 First Day of Classes and international student report deadline with ISO/ISS*
January 18 Final day to submit immigration approved exception to full course of study documents to ISO/ISS* (i.e., concurrent enrollment, final semester, medical etc.)
January 22 SEVIS record terminated for students not full time as of January 21-published late registration & drop/add

 

 

Fall 2008
February 4 First day to issue I-20/DS-2019 for Fall 2008 admits
June 30  Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by standard air mail)
July 21 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (sent outside US by international express mail)
July 28 Final day to issue I-20 for Readmission (international transfer students in the U.S.)
August 19 MANDATORY International Student Orientation for Tempe/Polytechnic/Phoenix students
August 19 Final day to issue I-20/DS-2019 (international transfer students in US)
August 25 First Day of Classes and report date for international students
August 29 Final day to submit exception to full course of study documents/new student report to ISO
September 1  SEVIS record terminated for students not full time as of August 31-published late registration & drop/add

*International Student Office (ISO) provides visa administration and support to students on the Tempe, Phoenix and Polytechnic campuses. International Student Services (ISS) provides visa administration and support to students on the West campus.
