The Graduate College has awarded five fellowships to provide first- and second-year support to the best ASU doctoral students who contribute to diversity in the graduate student population.

These Doctoral Enrichment fellows receive a monetary award for the first academic year, a resident tuition award and student health insurance, and continued support by their academic unit for the second year.

“This was a very competitive selection process, and these represent the best of our new Ph.D. students,” says Andrew Webber, associate vice provost. “They should be very proud of their accomplishments.”

The students are:

  • Kathleen Carroll, Department of Psychology
  • Lilian Chavez, Department of Sociology
  • Linda Manning, Psychology in Education
  • Michelle Martinez, Department of English
  • Andrea Torvinen, School of Human Evolution & Social Change
