The GPSA Office of Internal Affairs is excited to announce the results of the 2007-2008 Research Grant Competition. This year we had more proposals and reviewers than in any year in recent (or documented) memory. Luckily, we also had more funds to award.
There were a total of 159 proposals submitted for review and 109 volunteer grant reviewers gave their time to review these proposals. The proposals submitted this year were very competitive and, despite having more funds to disburse, there were many deserving proposals that could not be funded. This speaks volumes of the quality of work you all do here, and we will be using this information to advocate for increased funds for the program again next year.
This program is the only one of its kind that we are aware of - run by and for graduate students with graduate student peer reviewers! The funds come from the Office of the Vice President of Economic Affairs (OVPREA) and this year totaled $110,000. The competition is administered by GPSA and fund dispersal is handled through the Graduate College.
This year we were able to award 68 very deserving research grant proposals from a variety of disciplines throughout the university. You can read their names and departments below. Please join us in extending congratulations for their achievement!
