Cooperative Learning with Dr. Susan Ledlow (Part 1) [16:26, mp3, 18.82MB] Cooperative Learning with Dr. Susan Ledlow (Part 2) [14:50, mp3, 17MB] A fascinating interview with Dr. Susan Ledlow, a master educator at Arizona State University, on integrating cooperative learning strategies into university-level coursework. Part 1 introduces the concept of Cooperative Learning and how it differs from Traditional Learning and Group Work. Implementation of Cooperative Learning is a student-centered learning approach which establishes a climate that fosters team skills, role-playing, and leadership. The Boeing Code of Cooperation is used as a model from which students can develop their own codes of cooperation. Dr. Ledlow identifies commonly used cooperative learning strategies and gives the rationale for employing them. According to her, the key to a successful implementation lies in establishing both individual and team accountability.In Part 2, Dr. Ledlow discusses common integration strategies for small and large enrollment classes for both undergraduate and graduate coursework. She guides students in selecting strategies for evaluating effectiveness and addressing issues that may crop up when during the integration process. |
