2008-2009 Applications are being reviewed by a faculty committee. Decisions will be announced by early April 2008.

PURPOSE
The Graduate College (GC) Underrepresented Graduate Enrichment Match (UGEM) are academic unit nominated research assistantships which support the recruitment and retention of stellar underrepresented 1st year graduate students through the 1st year of graduate studies with an award of a 50% research assistantship. Research assistantships are matched 50/50 with a contribution from the GC and the academic unit.

The UGEM Research Assistantship supports the research assistant (RA) during the first year of their master's or doctoral degree program, both academically and financially. Academically, the UGEM RA must be an integral part of the students' academic career preparation and a tenured or tenure-track faculty mentor must be identified at the time of nomination. Financially, the RA is matched by the Graduate College the 1st year. In the second year, the RA's academic unit will provide them with a TA or RA position.
