Graduate students interested in strengthening their teaching skills and making a greater impact in the classroom can take advantage of the CIRTL Workshop Series this fall.
Designed to support graduate students at every stage of their teaching journey, the series introduces evidence-based strategies for creating inclusive, engaging and effective learning environments. Whether you’re considering a future faculty career, preparing for your first teaching experience or simply looking to become a more effective educator, CIRTL offers opportunities to build practical skills you can carry into the classroom and beyond.
Participants can attend individual workshops based on their interests or take part in the full series to build their skills and confidence over time.

Active listening and inclusive teaching

Creating a classroom where students feel heard and valued is an important part of effective teaching. In Active Listening and Inclusive Teaching, participants will explore practices that encourage student engagement, foster inclusion and help create supportive learning environments for all learners.
The workshop will introduce evidence-based approaches graduate students can use to strengthen communication and encourage meaningful participation in their classrooms.
Teaching as research

What if you approached your teaching with the same curiosity and rigor you bring to your research?
Teaching as Research introduces participants to a scholarly approach to education, providing strategies for investigating, assessing and improving teaching practices. Graduate students will learn how evidence can help them better understand what works in the classroom and make informed decisions about their instruction.
