Impact Awards: Leading Through Knowledge Engagement and Innovation

In today’s knowledge driven world, it is critical that researchers and scholars make their work accessible beyond their disciplines to maximize their impact across multiple audiences and contribute to the public good.

The Graduate College seeks nominations for the 2017 Impact Awards: Leading Through Knowledge Engagement and Innovation. These awards are conceptualized within a Knowledge Mobilization paradigm. “Knowledge Mobilization” (KM) captures the set of concepts and practices that optimize the knowledge and creativity produced in an educational setting.  It brings discovery to the public, puts it directly in the service of solving social, economic, technical and cultural problems, enriching the sciences, arts, industry, and cultural discourse.  KM marks the link between research and change, between the academy and the publics it serves. Research knowledge is mobilized through innovative means and media that include TED-style video recorded talks, blogs, pod casts, op-eds, infographics, art exhibits, performances, etc.

Enrolled doctoral or master students and current post-doctoral scholars.

Research and/or travel funds will be bestowed as follows: $250 awards for master’s students, $500 awards for doctoral students and $800 awards for post-doctoral fellows.
