Jobs of the future

Often, we get asked how we work to align student needs with the jobs of the future. At ASU we are lucky enough to have a whole university focused on the jobs that will be needed to support the future of work and the future of our own world. We have many projects that focus on engaging this discussion at all levels of our organization, but some of the most exciting work happens when we launch new programs created by our future looking, forward-thinking faculty.

Digital Audience Strategy:

Assistant Dean, Rebecca Blatt

Assistant Dean, Cronkite: Jessica Pucci

Companies need to connect and engage with audiences more than ever and the Cronkite School's Digital Audience Strategy programs teach students how to build brands, engage audiences and measure success to drive sales and brand loyalty across industries. Both a Master of Science degree and a graduate certificate — both completely online — present a unique opportunity for students to study digital audience behavior across social media, search engines, websites, apps and video platforms as well as learn how to create data-driven, audience-first content. Graduates leave the program armed with several industry-recognized professional certifications; they're ready to work in digital marketing strategy, audience engagement, social media management, content analytics and beyond, and are prepared to take on leadership roles.

Global Security, Cybersecurity:

Co-Directors: Jeff Kubiak and Daniel Rothenberg

As the world continues to become more reliant on technology to connect people, objects and organizations through new and emerging systems, devices and networks, the risk of dangerous activities by states, non-state actors and others is rising. We now face increasing rates of identity theft, severe data breaches and serious cyber attacks which have created a pressing demand for cybersecurity professionals. Along with computer scientists and technical experts, careers in cybersecurity for industry, the government and the military require leaders, managers and others with broad critical thinking skills and a strong grounding in major trends in national security and global politics. The College is now offering a Cybersecurity Concentration within the online Master of Arts in Global Security to prepare a new generation of professionals to meet these rapidly expanding needs. The degree can be completed in a calendar year, pursued from anywhere in the world and is designed for those working part-time or full-time. In the Cybersecurity Concentration, students will study with major thought leaders in the field, including the former deputy director of Cyber Command and authors of some of the most influential books on cyber issues, terrorism and global security. Built in an interdisciplinary fashion, this program is meant to enable any student to move forward in their career in global conflict and international security.

Emergency Management and Homeland Security (Cybersecurity Policy & Management):

Director: Brian Gerber

Creating structures and processes that support policy in the area of cybersecurity is an opportunity for all countries. As part of our PLuS Alliance suite of offerings, the Cybersecurity Policy & Management concentration for Emergency Management and Homeland Security allows a global perspective, integrating content from ASU’s Watt’s School of Public Service and Community Solutions with University of New South Wales. Built to help build the skills of our first responders, this program is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve our world.

The future of work will continue to change and our talented faculty will continue to pioneer research, as the ASU teams partner real-world partnerships and connections to ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is prepared to tackle some of the world’s biggest challenges to improve and support the communities in which we serve.

The Digital Immersion graduate portfolio is now 69 degree programs and twenty-one certificates, with more cutting edge content and programming coming in the next year and beyond. You can find the full portfolio of offerings at asuonline.asu.edu.
