Upcoming funding deadlines: Summer travel awards

May 25, 2018 is the deadline to apply for travel awards for the period of July 1 through September 30, 2018. These awards, offered in amounts up to $500, reimburse graduate students for airfare and/or registration costs associated with professional/research conferences and workshops. They are not meant to cover per diem, accommodation, or other travel-related expenses.

Alexis Faison, a graduate student in Counseling Psychology, recently attended the Society for Research on Adolescents Biennial Meeting with funding from a travel award.

“As a first-year graduate student, I have been afforded many professional development opportunities,” Faison said. “This opportunity and experience wouldn’t be possible without the support from the Graduate College’s travel award.”

Peaches Ulrich, a second-year graduate student in Molecular and Cellular Biology who presented at the 2018 American Association of Immunologists (AAI) national conference, concurred with Faison. “The assistance provided by the travel award greatly alleviated financial burdens associated with travel,” Ulrich said.

To apply, eligible graduate students should first submit an application to their academic unit for evaluation and prioritization.
