IEW Profile: Leen Elharake

Leen Elharake studies Urban and Environmental Planning at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning. As a graduate student, she received the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship, which has allowed her to engage with local organizations in Arizona to implement planning solutions in an urban context.

IEW Profile: Shogo Honda

Shogo Honda is an international student from Japan. Honda studies Speech and Hearing Science and the College of Health Solutions. His research focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of stuttering, which is a speech disorder. While at ASU, Honda hopes to achieve the goal of developing technology-based treatments to help those who stutter.

IEW Profile: William N. Massaquoi

William Massaquoi is an international graduate student from Liberia studying Global Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Through his studies at ASU, he plans to develop a higher learning institute in Liberia to train the next generation of leaders that Liberia and Africa desperately need.

IEW Profile: Pablo Ortega

Pablo Ortega received his PhD in Political Science from the School of Politics and Global Studies in May 2022. He was an international student from Columbia who participated in the Latin American Peace Science Society, which propelled opportunities for research collaboration.

IEW Profile: Mario Hernández

Mario Hernandez is a Religious Studies doctoral student from Mexico City. The Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship provided a life-changing opportunity as a scholar at ASU. He will graduate with a PhD in August 2024.

IEW Profile: Shehla Inam

Shehla Inam, an international student from Pakistan, studies Biomedical Engineering at the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering. She received the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship and has loved studying at ASU that has allowed her to broaden her horizons through new cultures.

IEW Profile: Angguntari Sari

Annguntari Sari earned her PhD in Political Science at the School of Politics and Global Studies in April 2022. The Graduate Research Support Program (GRSP), Graduate College Fellowship and Graduate College Travel Awards allowed her to broaden connections and study international factors that facilitate or hinder the spread of democratic values.

IEW Profile: Joseph Karanja

Joseph Karanja is an international PhD student from Kenya. He received the Interdisciplinary Enrichment Fellowship that allows him to make significant strides in his academic journey studying geographic information science at the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning. Karanja expects to graduate in May 2025.

IEW Profile: Irfan Zamzami

Irfan Zamazmi is an international graduate student from Indonesia who came to ASU to study Literature at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He expects to graduate in August 2024 after receiving the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship and the Graduate College Fellowship to continue his studies.

Jennifer Mattingly is an international doctoral student from Columbia. Mattingly received the Graduate University Fellowship which allows her to continue her studies in Health Care Innovation at Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Mattingly will receive her PhD in May 2023.

Kaustav Basu completed his PhD in Computer Science at the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence in June 2022. He received the Graduate College Completion Fellowship, which allowed him to dedicate time to his research.

IEW Profile: Camila Páez-Bernal

Camila Páez-Bernal is a Political Science doctoral student from Columbia. Páez-Bernal received the Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship to continue her studies at the School of Politics and Global Studies. She will complete her doctorate in July 2024.

Linus Napogbong is a Construction Engineering doctoral student who received the Interdisciplinary Enrichment Fellowship to further his studies. Napogbong is an international student from Ghana who is fulfilling his dream by studying courses he is passionate about at ASU.

Jun Chen is a doctoral student at the School of Human Evolution and Social Change, graduating in December 2022. Chen is an international student from China who received the Graduate College Completion Fellowship to further her studies in applied mathematics for life and social sciences.
