Global music ecologies
Raising awareness in resource conservation, interdisciplinarity and ethnomusicology. As Curator of Education at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM) and Executive Director of Daraja Music Initiative (DMI), Katherine Palmer, DMA creates hands-on music programming for diverse audiences. Since 2010, DMI has reached over 10,000 community members, planted nearly 2,500 mpingo trees, from which clarinets are made and promoted eco-friendly practices of instrument making.
With over 300,000 visitors a year, through the MIM, Palmer provides educational programming so visitors can learn about musical cultures and instruments from around the globe.
