Q: What is your name?

Devin Bowes

Q: Where are you from?

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Q: Where do you work at ASU?

Biodesign Center for Environmental Health Engineering

Q: Where did you earn your doctorate?

PhD Biological Design, Arizona State University

Q: What does your research focus on?

I leverage community wastewater to non-invasively and comprehensively understand various aspects of population health and human life. This methodology is largely referred to as Wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). Specifically, I am interested in linking the connections between human health and our environment, particularly as it relates to dietary-related chronic disease, health disparities, infectious disease, microbiomes, and environmental exposures (i.e., chemical or biological pollutants).

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

What I love most about Arizona is the diversity in landscape and topography within a relatively short distance. I come from a large family with 6 siblings, and play the guitar in my free time.

Q: What are your career goals?

I am pursuing a career in academia where I can continue to mentor students, conduct interdisciplinary independent research, and serve as an advocate for diversity and inclusion in this space.
