This October, do your part to ensure online safety and security by participating in ASU’s “Think!” campaign. The university is hosting this campaign as part of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Alliance.

What is Cybersecurity Awareness Month?

Cybersecurity Awareness Month was founded in 2004 and was “created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources they need to stay safer and more secure online,” according to the National Cyber Security Alliance.

Each week features a different theme and includes advice and activities intended to increase understanding about issues in cyber security and staying safe online.

“Do your part. #BeCyberSmart.”

Now in it’s 17th year, the 2020 Cybersecurity Awareness Month theme is “Do your part. #BeCyberSmart.”

As our online and offline lives become increasingly intertwined, the National Cyber Security Alliance reminds us that it is up to everyone to protect our national security. By protecting your own personal part of cyberspace, you are protecting “homes, societal well-being, economic prosperity and the nation’s security,” which are all impacted by the internet.

“If everyone does their part – implementing stronger security practices, raising community awareness, educating vulnerable audiences or training employees – our interconnected world will be safer and more resilient for everyone,” according to the National Cyber Security Alliance
