Cody Van Cleve
Rapid deployment humanitarian aid unit
Solving the challenge of healthcare and clean water for refugees in remote areas. The first fully contained turnkey medical unit deployed to Uganda in 2019 addresses a need for services and support of a global 65 million and growing refugee population. As part of the deployment strategy, Cody Van Cleve, PhD student in Systems Engineering and a team of ASU partners and scholars used solutions-based research to develop a sustainable workforce program for the local populations. The team’s prototype technology includes a clean water system, stored solar power, medical supplies and separate spaces for patient exam, diagnostic and waiting.
