Reducing infant mortality
Team received over $500,000 in awards and investments to combat infant jaundice. Vivek Kopparthi, MS, Chase Garrett, Deepak Krishnaraju, MS, and Sivakumar Palaniswamy designed a phototherapy treatment tool to cure neonatal jaundice. Worldwide, jaundice is responsible for ten infant deaths an hour. Kopparthi hopes that after co-founding Neolight, a startup company, the launch of the SkyLifeTM Phototherapy System will reinvent newborn healthcare. Neolight is also working on a new device to treat infant hypothermia.
