Understanding memory
How do we remember things that are valuable to us?Blake Elliot, graduate student in the Department of Psychology aims to find out. Elliot obtained the highly-competitive Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation to study the link between individual connections in the brain and complex behavior, such as memory. Bringing together researchers from the Memory and Attention Lab and the Decision Neuroscience Lab, Elliot’s research looks at how to determine and then map how actions create or strengthen our memories. His research has been recognized by the Psychonomic Society and has implications for teaching and learning, mental health and aging and interventions for limited memory capacities.
