AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellowships

STPF provides opportunities to outstanding scientists and engineers to learn first-hand about policymaking and contribute their knowledge and analytical skills in the policy realm. Fellows serve year-long assignments in the federal government and represent a broad range of backgrounds, disciplines, and career stages.

Eligibility Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required; Doctoral level STEM degree (or a Master's in engineering); AAAS seeks candidates from a broad array of backgrounds and a diversity of geographic, disciplinary, gender, and ethnic perspectives as well as disability status.

Stipend: $80,000 to $105,000

Ford Foundation Fellowships Program

The Ford Foundation offers Predoctoral, Dissertation, and Postdoctoral fellowships to high achieving candidates who are committed to becoming faculty, to ethnic and racial diversity, and to maximize the educational benefits of diversity in the academy.

Eligibility Requirements: U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents, DACA grantees, political asylees, and refugees; Evidence of superior academic achievement. Committed to a career in teaching and research at the college or university level and committed to using diversity as a resource for enriching education.

Award: $24,000-$45,000 for 1-3 years—dependent on type of fellowship.

Positive factors for selection: Likelihood of using diversity as an education resource in teaching and scholarship; Membership in one or more of the following underreprresentated groups: Black/African Americans; Mexican Americans/Chicanas/Chicanos; Native American Indians; Native Pacific Islanders (Hawaiian/Polynesian/Micronesian); Puerto Ricans; Alaska Natives (Aleut, Eskimo or other Indigenous People of Alaska)
