Dean Alfredo Artiles elected to the National Academy of Education and honored with mentoring award

The Graduate College is proud to announce that Dean Alfredo J. Artiles was elected to the National Academy of Education and received the Spencer Mentor Award.

Dean Artiles was elected to the National Academy of Education (NAEd) for his innovative research and scholarly accomplishments. Artiles’ scholarship addresses educational opportunities and equity challenges for diverse learners. He will be the seventh ASU faculty member elected to NAEd.

The NAEd is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which advances high quality research to improve education policy and practice. Founded in 1965, the academy elects members on the basis of outstanding scholarship in relation to education.

Dean Artiles also received the Spencer Foundation Mentor Award, which supports faculty who have demonstrated extraordinary contributions to supporting the research training and career trajectories of graduate students and junior scholars that engage in education research.

The grant is awarded annually to three mentors. Artiles was selected for the award from a field of more than 100 nominated research faculty from around the country.

The Spencer Foundation is dedicated to the belief that high-quality research training and mentoring is a cornerstone of the field of education and worthy of recognition.

Please join the rest of the Graduate College in congratulating Dean Artiles on these recognitions.
