How a math class sparked students' engagement in their community
An associate professor at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, developed a statistics course that has established multiple community-based learning opportunities. One opportunity was created when a group of students wanted to know if the local food bank was recommending the right blends of foods to families. In the course evaluations, students reported that they felt the class gave them the opportunity to use their skills in a real-world setting.
