NIAID Research Education Program
The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this National Institute of Allergy and infectious Diseases (NIAID) R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs in NIAID mission areas.
This is a $1,625,000 grant opportunity.
Henry Luce Foundation/ACLS Program in China Studies - Predissertation summer travel grants
The Predissertation-Summer Travel Grants are for graduate students who wish to conduct preliminary preparations in China prior to beginning basic research for the dissertation. They are for graduate students seeking to investigate the research currently underway in Chinese archives and field sites, to establish contact with Chinese scholars, and to secure necessary permissions for fieldwork or archival research.
Sponsored by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS), this is a $5,000 grant opportunity.
A commencement speaker pledges to pay off an entire class's student loans
During Morehouse Colleges’ Class of 2019 commencement the keynote speaker, Robert F. Smith, made the announcement that he has made a donation to the 400-member class to pay off all of their student loan debt. This grant is estimated at more than 40 million dollars and is reported to be the largest gift ever made to an HBCU. Smith ended his speech saying, “I know my class will pay this forward”.
