PLuS Alliance session: Mobilizing knowledge for social impact

The Graduate College will be co-sponsoring a session at the upcoming PLuS Alliance Symposium with ASU faculty from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and the Watts College of Public Service.

This session will discuss applying knowledge mobilization as a framework to enhance use-inspired research across many academic settings. It will also offer an introduction to several techniques for mobilizing research, grounded in the work of the Graduate College’s knowledge mobilization initiative and case studies from three PLuS Fellows: Flavio Marsiglia (Watts College), Elizabeth Wentz (CLAS) and Enrique Vivoni (Graduate College, CLAS). These Fellows will discuss their respective experiences as researchers in health disparities and culturally-grounded social work practice; spatial mapping and conservation science; engineering and sustainable water resources and invite PLuS fellows in attendance to expand upon this discussion via their own experiences in socially engaging research.

The 2019 PLuS Alliance Symposium will be held on November 12 and 13 at the SkySong campus.

The PLuS Alliance is a partnership between ASU, King’s College (Great Britain) and the University of New South Wales (Australia) focused on developing sustainable, interdisciplinary solutions for global challenges; the Alliance currently houses 60 faculty fellows across these three institutions.
