Postdoc Profile: JoAnna Reyes

Q: Where did you earn your doctorate?

University of California

Q: What does your research focus on?

My scholarship centers on the visual and material culture of colonial Mexico and contemporary Chicana/o America. My teaching and research interests include identity formation and expression, extraction economy and the built environment, and borderland iconography.

Q: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I finished my PhD as a single mom of two amazing children. My struggles and successes inspired me to organize toward equity for all minoritized students with an emphasis on parenting students, who are often an invisible population on college campuses.

Q: What are your career goals? 

I am inspired to carry out meaningful and rigorous research while providing excellent mentorship and learning opportunities for students.
