Professional Development Series offers something for everyone

With the fall semester well underway, the new schedule of postdoc professional development workshops is also ticking along.

The Postdoctoral Affairs Office offers at least one class each month in each of the areas of academia, entrepreneurship, and industry-related professional development topics. Not only does this give postdocs an opportunity to learn about topics in the chosen professional area, but it also allows them to dabble a little bit in other areas to expand horizons and skillsets.

Sessions of academic interest this past fall included “Keys to getting published”, “Tips for getting a faculty position”, and “Writing for Academic Audiences.”

Entrepreneurship topics included the “Postdoc Entrepreneurs Panel” and the upcoming “Introduction to Intellectual Property” on October 26.

Postdocs with interests in careers in industry are encouraged to attend “What are Agile and Scrum, Anyway?” on November 2 and "Project Management: How to develop a Project Plan" on December 7.
