National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship Program will award 35 fellowships for the 2019–20 academic year to scholars from a wide range of disciplines and professional fields who are pursuing research towards the improvement of education. This award is open to U.S. and Non-U.S. citizens who are candidates for doctoral degrees from U.S. institutions. In addition to the $27,500 stipend, fellows participate in two professional development retreats where they receive dissertation writing support, and opportunities to network, build research and career skills and support their transition into professional roles. Proposals will be reviewed by a multidisciplinary selections committee and should be written for a generalist audience. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 4, 2018, 5 p.m., Eastern.

National Academy of Education (NAEd) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program will award 30 early career scholars working in critical areas of education research during the 2019–20 academic year. The $70,000 fellowships and professional development activities support non-residential postdoctoral proposals that make significant scholarly contributions to the field of education. Fellowships are intended as salary replacement for one year and to cover other research expenses outlined in the proposal. Fellows must not receive other funding in support of their proposed research during the grant period.

Applications are reviewed by NAEd members and are judged on the applicant’s past research record, career trajectory and the quality of the project described in the application. Paul & Daisy SOROS Fellowship for New Americans supports 30 fellows each year who are new Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants pursuing graduate degrees in the United States. The merit-based competition provides the selected fellows with up to $25,000 stipend and 50% of required tuition and fees, up to $20,000 for one-to-two years of graduate study in any field.

The deadline for application is November 1, 2018. Selection criteria emphasize creativity, originality, initiative and sustained accomplishment. Full eligibility requirements can be found here.  

Supreme Court Fellows Program places a total of four fellows at the Supreme Court of the United States, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, the Federal Judicial Center and the U.S. Sentencing Commission for a year-long fellowship. There is a special interest in candidates who are completing or have recently completed a judicial clerkship and anticipate pursuing careers in the academy or in public service. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens who hold a JD or other post-graduate degree. Applications are accepted mid-summer through early November.
