Each of you is here with a purpose and to fulfill a dream.

As a graduate student, you are as much a part of the Graduate College as you are a member of your academic program, school, college, or unit. The Graduate College is here to support you in your professional development and academic progress.

It’s true, most of our work takes place behind the scenes, when we advocate on your behalf, and work with units to ensure the quality of the graduate programs meet the highest standards and prepare you to make meaningful contributions to your field and society. But, we’re also fully invested in supporting you as “a whole student.” I encourage you to take advantage of all the services the Graduate College provides — from professional development opportunities and events to funding opportunities (like travel awards) and support for applying for coveted distinguished awards, to helping you with submitting your thesis or dissertation. 

Your success is our mission! Remember you’re a part of the Graduate College as well as your academic unit. After all, my signature will be on your diploma upon graduation.
