Requesting graduate academic credit for LE learning offerings
Academic units should follow the process outlined below to develop learning offerings through the Learning Enterprise (LE) that are eligible for conversion for graduate-level academic credit in the Academic Enterprise (AE). Graduate-level, credit-eligible learning offerings are developed through coordinated planning efforts between LE and AE based on learners’ needs, as well as opportunities to increase enrollment in graduate certificate and degree programs.
Step 1: Identify the learning offering for graduate credit eligibility
Review LE’s Graduate Level Credit-Eligible Learning Offerings for an overview of the guidelines and process. Remember:
- The LE learning offering must convert to an academic, graduate-level course that exists in the ASU Course Catalog. Use the Propose a New Course or Modify an Existing Course form in Kuali if needed.
- LE credit-eligible offerings must have the same learning objectives, curriculum, and rigor as the academic course equivalents.
Step 2: Request graduate academic credit for the learner credential
Submit the Proposal to grant academic credit from noncredit learning experiences form in Kuali CM for official university review.
Step 3: Apply academic unit/college approvals
The proposal will route through the internal academic unit and college approvals in the Kuali workflow. Ensure academic unit and college leadership are supportive before submitting the request form.
Step 4: Secure university approvals
The Kuali form will route to the appropriate LE and AE approvers. The Graduate College will send the final approval notification through Kuali CM to the academic dean once the request is approved. Learning offerings may not be advertised as credit-eligible until the final approval notification has been received.
