Western Regional Graduate Program

The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) is coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education (WICHE) and provides a tuition rate of 150% of resident graduate tuition. WRGP/WICHE is intended for those who can prove residency in a qualified WRGP/WICHE state and who are admitted to an approved ASU program.

WRGP/WICHE applications must be received by the below deadlines to be considered for the corresponding term.

Fall - June 1

Please note: Students pursuing concurrent programs may only apply if both programs have been approved. Online and doctoral programs are not eligible for WRGP/WICHE. Students must be admitted to an ASU approved program prior to submitting a WRGP/WICHE application. Student needs to have maintained residency in their home state for a minimum of two years.

What is WRGP/WICHE?

The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) is coordinated by the Western Interstate Commission of Higher Education (WICHE) and provides a reduction in non-resident graduate tuition. WRGP/WICHE is intended for those who can prove residency in a qualified WRGP/WICHE state and are admitted to an approved program.

Are online programs eligible?

Online programs are not eligible for WRGP/WICHE.

Do I need to re-apply for WRGP every semester?

No, once you have been approved, you will remain approved throughout your program. If you change to a different program, you will no longer receive the WRGP tuition rate.

Do students in concurrent programs qualify for WRGP/WICHE?

Student pursuing concurrent programs may only apply if both programs are approved WRGP/WICHE programs. See the programs tab for the full list of approved programs.

Who do I contact for academic program questions?

Can an RA or TA receive the WRGP/WICHE tuition rate?

Students cannot be a RA/TA and also receive the WRGP/WICHE tuition discount.

What happens if I miss the application deadline?

Applications received after the posted deadlines will be considered for the future term.

What happens after I submit my application to the Graduate College?

Applicants will be notified via email once applications have been evaluated and a decision has been made. Applications are reviewed once the posted deadline has passed. Early decisions are not granted.
